GEMS Royal Dubai School in Dubai is seeking a dynamic Computing Teacher to inspire curiosity and develop digital literacy and computational thinking across the growing secondary phase.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons aligned with the NCfE, contribute to curriculum planning, assess and track progress, and foster a safe, inclusive learning environment while supporting GCSE pathways as Year 10 grows.

Qualifications

  • Recognised teaching qualification and degree in Computing, Computer Science or closely related subject.
  • Strong knowledge of the NCfE and GCSE experience desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of programming and computational thinking with engaging, practical learning.
  • Proven record of securing strong student outcomes.
  • Excellent classroom practice, behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Ambition, adaptability and collaborative mindset for a growing secondary school.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver consistently excellent Computing lessons aligned with the NCfE, developing computational thinking, programming and digital literacy.
  • Set high expectations for achievement, behaviour and participation in an inclusive learning environment.
  • Use assessment effectively to adapt teaching, provide feedback, track progress and implement intervention.
  • Contribute to Computing curriculum planning, assessment and moderation for a strong foundation in CS and digital technologies.
  • Support development of the Computing curriculum and GCSE Computer Science pathways as the secondary phase grows.
  • Build strong relationships with students, colleagues and families, and communicate progress clearly.
  • Contribute to wider school life through pastoral duties, enrichment and community events.
  • Demonstrate reflective, solution-focused practice and engage in professional learning and quality assurance.
  • Promote safeguarding and follow all school policies and reporting requirements.

Job Purpose:

To deliver consistently excellent Computing teaching that inspires curiosity, develops digital literacy, computational thinking and problem-solving skills, and secures strong progress for every student. The postholder will contribute to the development of Computing across the growing secondary phase and uphold the values, standards and wider strategic vision of GEMS Royal Dubai School.

  • Plan and deliver consistently excellent, engaging Computing lessons aligned with the NCfE, using strong subject knowledge and effective pedagogy to develop computational thinking, programming, digital literacy, problem-solving and practical skills.
  • Set high expectations for achievement, behaviour and participation, creating a safe, inclusive and purposeful learning environment in which every student can succeed.
  • Use assessment effectively to adapt teaching, provide meaningful feedback, track progress and implement timely intervention.
  • Contribute to Computing curriculum planning, assessment and moderation, ensuring students develop a strong foundation in programming, computer science, digital technologies and computational thinking.
  • Support the development of the Computing curriculum and prepare students for future GCSE Computer Science and related pathways as the secondary phase grows.
  • Build strong relationships with students, colleagues and families, working collaboratively and communicating progress clearly.
  • Contribute actively to the wider life and culture of the school through pastoral responsibilities, enrichment, extra-curricular activities and community events.
  • Demonstrate a reflective, solution-focused High-Performance mindset and engage fully in professional learning, coaching, appraisal and quality assurance.
  • Promote and safeguard students’ welfare and personal development, following all school policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role, as directed by the Principal.
The successful candidate will have:
  • A recognised teaching qualification and degree in Computing, Computer Science or a closely related subject.
