Job summary

Shangri-La Hotel Abu Dhabi is seeking Commis 1 & 2 to support the culinary team in the daily preparation and production of food according to established recipes and hotel standards. You will assist with mise en place, cooking, and food preparation while maintaining consistency in quality, presentation, and portion control.

You will also maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety within the kitchen, and be flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and standard operating procedures.
• Strong teamwork and willingness to learn from senior chefs.
• Commitment to food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, mise en place, and cooking as directed by the Chef de Partie.
• Prepare ingredients and dishes according to standard recipes and portion requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of the kitchen and workstations.
• Ensure proper storage, labelling, and rotation of food items to minimize wastage.
• Follow instructions from senior chefs and work effectively as part of the culinary team.
