Job summary

InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Mina Al Arab Resort & Spa is seeking a Commis II to join our Employee Restaurant kitchen team. You will assist with daily food preparation, maintain mise en place, follow recipes, and ensure proper storage of ingredients while upholding high hygiene standards.

Work closely with senior chefs, learn throughout training, and contribute to a busy, diverse culinary team. Flexibility for different shifts including weekends is essential.

Qualifications

• Culinary qualification or relevant kitchen operations experience
• The strength to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg) which can also involve bending and kneeling
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations
• Understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling
• Ability to work well within a busy and diverse culinary team
• Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs
• A positive, hardworking and team-focused attitude
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and public holidays

Responsibilities

• Assisting with daily food preparation and cooking under the guidance of senior chefs
• Preparing mise en place according to daily production requirements
• Following recipes, cooking methods and portion standards
• Checking food items and ensuring ingredients are properly stored
• Following FIFO procedures and helping prevent food spoilage and waste
• Checking refrigerators, freezers and food storage areas
• Keeping your workstation and kitchen equipment clean and tidy
• Following food safety, hygiene and health standards at all times
• Supporting other kitchen sections whenever required
• Taking part in training and developing your culinary skills
