Job summary

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is seeking a Commis 1 for Tasca Kitchen in Dubai. You will support kitchen operations, perform basic food prep, and maintain high standards of hygiene and mise en place under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School qualification or equivalent.
• A minimum 1 year of culinary experience working as Commis 2 in a Michelin Starred restaurant.
• Basic experience in handling and preparing food, including specialty dishes like pizza, is required.
• Ability to work long hours with a strong focus on operational excellence.
• Basic knowledge of the kitchen tools and utensils in order to perform the specific tasks.
• Knowledge of basic food hygiene is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Washes and peels ingredients to prep dishes.
• Ensure mise en place is prepared to the highest quality as per standards.
• Set up and replenish buffets.
• Assist superiors in the pickup of requisition and organize it in storage.
• Inform superior of ingredient quantities when stock is low.
• Store ingredients in dedicated containers with proper labeling.
• Clean and sanitize working surfaces, tools, utensils and area.
• Report cleanliness and maintenance issues to superiors.
• Adhere to personal hygiene standards at all times.
• Follow UAE Municipality rules and Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group standards.
• Work as part of the team and assist other colleagues as required.
• Attend required meetings and training as scheduled.

Education

High School qualification or equivalent

Degree or Higher National Diploma in Hospitality/Culinary art
