Minor Hotels' Dukes The Palm Dubai Hotel is seeking an experienced Cluster Painter & Polisher to maintain high-quality finishes across two properties. The role involves painting, polishing, touch-ups, repairs, and preventive maintenance in guest rooms and public areas.

You will prepare surfaces, mix paints, and ensure safety practices while coordinating with Engineering Management. Flexible to work shifts and across both properties as required.

Qualifications

  • Technical or vocational training in painting or decorating.
  • 2–3 years of experience as Painter/Polisher, hotel/Facilities preferred.
  • Experience in 4- or 5-star hotel environment is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of paints, varnishes, stains, primers, and finishes.
  • Ability to work at heights and follow safety procedures.

The Cluster Painter & Polisher is responsible for maintaining the appearance, quality, and condition of painted, polished, and decorative surfaces across both hotel properties. The role carries out painting, polishing, touch-ups, repairs, and preventive maintenance in guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, offices, and back-of-house areas to ensure the hotels consistently meet the required brand and presentation standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out painting, polishing, varnishing, staining, and finishing works throughout both hotel properties.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling cracks and holes, and applying primers or undercoats as required.
  • Mix and match paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishing materials to achieve the required colour and finish.
  • Perform touch-ups painting and corrective works in guest rooms, corridors, public areas, restaurants, offices, and back-of-house areas.
  • Polish, restore, and maintain wooden furniture, doors, decorative panels, fixtures, and other surfaces.
  • Repair minor surface damage, scratches, chips, cracks, and other imperfections before applying finishes.
  • Apply paint using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and other appropriate tools.
  • Maintain walls, ceilings, doors, frames, furniture, and decorative elements to the hotel's required standards.
  • Attend maintenance requests and complete assigned work orders efficiently and within the required timeframe.
  • Conduct regular inspections and identify areas requiring painting, polishing, or refurbishment.
  • Support preventive maintenance and hotel refurbishment projects as assigned by Engineering Management.
  • Protect furniture, flooring, guest belongings, and surrounding areas before commencing work.
  • Ensure work areas are properly isolated and appropriate signage is displayed when carrying out maintenance in operational areas.
  • Minimize disruption to guests and hotel operations when carrying out work in guest-facing areas.
  • Maintain proper storage and handling of paints, thinners, chemicals, and other materials in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good working condition and stored safely after use.
  • Monitor stock levels of paint, polishing materials, consumables, and tools and report replenishment requirements to the supervisor.
  • Minimize material wastage through proper planning, preparation, and usage.
  • Follow all hotel health, safety, fire, environmental, and Engineering procedures.
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling paints, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with other Engineering colleagues and departments across both properties.
  • Be flexible to work at either hotel based on operational and maintenance requirements.
  • Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Cluster Chief Engineer or Engineering Management.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Technical or vocational training in painting, decorating, carpentry finishing, or a related trade is preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Painter/Polisher, preferably within a hotel, resort, commercial property, or facilities management environment.
  • Previous experience in a 4- or 5-star hotel environment is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of different types of paints, varnishes, stains, primers, polishing materials, and surface-finishing techniques.
  • Strong skills in surface preparation, colour matching, painting, polishing, and finishing.
  • Experience working with wood finishes, furniture polishing, doors, wall finishes, and decorative surfaces.
  • Ability to use brushes, rollers, spray equipment, sanding machines, and other painting and polishing tools safely.
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures related to paints, chemicals, solvents, and working at heights.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality finishes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural Engineering team.
  • Basic communication skills in English.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual duties and work at heights when required.
  • Flexible to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and across both hotel properties according to operational requirements.
