Job summary

Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering Department at Abu Dhabi University seeks an experienced Platform Engineer | Cloud Platform Specialist to design, build, and maintain scalable cloud platforms and internal infrastructure. You will manage multi-cloud and hybrid environments, implement IaC, build CI/CD pipelines, and advance platform reliability and developer experience across the organization.

The role requires hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field.
Experience in Platform/Cloud engineering, DevOps, or SRE.
Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Hands-on with IaC tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi.
Strong CI/CD experience and modern software delivery practices.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm.
Strong Linux system administration knowledge.
Networking basics: DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, load balancers, VPNs.
Observability: monitoring, logging, alerts.
Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry, Datadog.
Scripting: Python, Bash, Go, PowerShell.
Git and infrastructure automation knowledge.
Cloud security, IAM, secrets, encryption knowledge.
Design for high availability and fault tolerance.
DR/backup/resilience and business continuity awareness.
Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Collaborative with developers, security, IT, and business stakeholders.
Problem-solving and independent work capability.
Cloud certifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud platforms and infrastructure environments.
Develop reliable platform services for application and engineering teams.
Manage cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or hybrid environments.
Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or similar tools.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments.
Develop reusable infrastructure components, templates, modules, and platform services.
Automate provisioning, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and operations.
Manage containerized environments with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.
Design and maintain Kubernetes clusters, workloads, networking, storage, and security.
Establish platform standards and best practices across teams.
Monitor availability, performance, capacity, reliability, and resource usage.
Troubleshoot infra, network, app-platform, and deployment issues; investigate root causes.
Implement observability covering logs, metrics, traces, alerts, health.
Collaborate with software teams to improve developer workflows and deployments.
Develop self-service tools and platform capabilities for engineers.
Support modernization, cloud migration, and digital transformation efforts.
Design highly available, fault-tolerant, disaster-resilient infra.
Implement backup, recovery, DR, and business-continuity capabilities.
Work with cybersecurity teams on cloud security controls and platform architecture.
Manage IAM, secrets, encryption, network security, policies.
Apply security/compliance across the platform lifecycle.
Monitor cloud usage and cost-optimization efforts.
Establish governance for accounts, subscriptions, resources, configurations.
Capacity planning and performance optimization for cloud/platform infra.
Participate in incident response and post-incident improvements.
Maintain docs, diagrams, runbooks, procedures, and standards.
Evaluate new cloud services and platform engineering practices.
Support platform upgrades and lifecycle-management activities.
Define reliability metrics like availability, latency, deployment frequency, recovery.
