JOB PURPOSE
The Project Engineer – Civil will be responsible for managing and coordinating civil construction activities, ensuring that works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Project Execution
- Coordinate and supervise day-to-day civil construction activities.
- Ensure works are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
- Monitor project progress and ensure activities are completed according to the approved schedule.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager, Site Engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams.
- Identify and resolve technical and construction-related issues.
2. Technical Coordination
- Review construction drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Coordinate with consultants and subcontractors regarding technical requirements and site issues.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved details and engineering standards.
- Raise technical queries and coordinate their timely resolution.
- Monitor changes and revisions to drawings and ensure the latest approved documents are used on site.
3. Site Supervision
- Supervise civil works including concrete, blockwork, plastering, waterproofing, structural works, and finishing activities.
- Monitor manpower, materials, equipment, and productivity.
- Ensure proper sequencing of construction activities.
- Inspect completed works and coordinate required inspections with the consultant.
- Ensure proper coordination between civil, MEP, and other trades.
4. Planning & Progress Monitoring
- Coordinate with the planning team to monitor project schedules and milestones.
- Prepare daily and weekly progress updates.
- Identify potential delays and assist in implementing recovery measures.
- Monitor site productivity and provide progress information to the Project Manager.
5. Quality Control
- Ensure construction activities comply with project specifications and approved quality standards.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC Engineer for inspections and testing.
- Ensure approved method statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) are followed.
- Assist in identifying and rectifying defective or non-conforming works.
6. Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements and UAE safety regulations.
- Promote safe working practices among site personnel and subcontractors.
- Report unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety inspections, and risk assessments.
7. Subcontractor & Supplier Coordination
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely execution of works.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and productivity.
- Ensure materials are delivered according to project requirements and approved specifications.
- Coordinate material approvals and technical submissions where required.
8. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain proper records of drawings, inspections, approvals, site instructions, and technical correspondence.
- Prepare daily site reports and progress documentation.
- Assist in preparing project progress reports and presentations.
- Maintain accurate records of completed works and site activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in building construction.
- Strong experience in civil construction and site/project engineering.
- UAE/GCC construction experience is preferred.
- Good knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, method statements, and project procedures.
- Experience coordinating with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
