Job summary

Parsons is hiring a Civil Inspector in Abu Dhabi to supervise road, infrastructure and stormwater construction. You will inspect works for compliance with drawings, specs, codes and procedures, and maintain daily site records.

The role will inspect assigned works for compliance with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes, quality requirements, and established construction procedures. Working with the Assistant Resident Engineer, Resident Engineer, contractor site engineers, surveyors, and multidisciplinary inspectors, the Civil Inspector will monitor workmanship, coordinate inspections and testing, maintain detailed site records, and identify construction activities that do not conform to project requirements.

What You 'll Be Doing

• Inspect construction works to verify compliance with approved plans, drawings, specifications, codes, and standards.
• Maintain continuous surveillance of assigned civil and infrastructure construction activities.
• Identify unacceptable workmanship, deviations, or contractor non-compliance and report findings to the Assistant Resident Engineer or Resident Engineer.
• Coordinate daily with contractor site engineers regarding proper execution of the works.
• Review relevant shop drawings, method statements, and construction specifications when performing inspections.
• Monitor road, infrastructure, and stormwater construction activities within the assigned area.
• Process Inspection Requests and maintain accurate records of their status.
• Maintain a professional and firm approach when dealing with contractor personnel.

Quality Inspection and Testing

• Coordinate with inspectors from other disciplines for inspection of completed works.
• Arrange sampling and testing of satisfactorily completed construction activities where required.
• Coordinate quality assurance testing of materials requiring additional verification.
• Work with surveyors to check line and grade of ready and completed works against approved plans and specifications.
• Report questionable construction methods or practices to the Assistant Resident Engineer or Resident Engineer.
• Maintain detailed records for contractor activities performed on a Day Works basis.

Site Documentation and Reporting

Maintain a detailed daily diary covering construction activities, site issues, work approved or rejected, operating hours, labour, equipment usage, and other relevant site information.

Complete and sign daily records as directed by the Assistant Resident Engineer.

The Civil Inspector will use applicable computer systems and project-specific engineering or construction software to access information, maintain inspection records, and prepare required reports.

Safety and Stakeholder Coordination

• Participate actively in site health and safety matters as directed by the Assistant Resident Engineer and project safety representatives.
• Observe construction activities and communicate relevant safety concerns through established project channels.
• Interface with members of the public and stakeholders adjacent to construction areas to help mitigate impacts associated with the works.
• Coordinate effectively with contractors, surveyors, inspectors, and the wider project supervision team.

What Required Skills You 'll Bring

• Bachelor 's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience in road and infrastructure construction supervision and stormwater projects.
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, method statements, and construction specifications.
• Thorough familiarity with construction processes relevant to the assigned inspection activities.
• Computer literacy and ability to use technology for accessing data, maintaining records, and generating reports.
• Ability to use relevant project-specific engineering and construction software.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
• ADM-DMT project experience is preferred.
