Job summary

Gadiyar Engineering Consultant in Dubai seeks a Civil Engineer – Engineering Consultant to lead design and review of civil/structural projects. You will coordinate with architectural, MEP, and structural teams, prepare specifications, and ensure compliance with UAE codes.

The role includes site supervision, quality control, and contractor coordination to maintain schedule, budget, and technical integrity across multiple projects.

Civil Engineer – Engineering Consultant

1. Design & Engineering

• Review and develop civil/structural designs as per project requirements.
• Review architectural, structural, MEP, and civil coordination drawings.
• Prepare technical specifications, design calculations, and engineering reports.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable UAE codes and authority requirements.

2. Design Review

• Review contractor/subcontractor drawings and calculations.
• Review material submittals, method statements, and technical documents.
• Identify design conflicts and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Provide technical comments and recommendations.

3. Site Supervision

• Conduct regular site inspections.
• Monitor civil works against approved drawings and specifications.
• Verify workmanship, dimensions, levels, alignment, and materials.
• Ensure construction is executed according to approved methodology.

4. Quality Control

• Inspect concrete, reinforcement, blockwork, waterproofing, plastering, finishes, etc.
• Review inspection requests (IRs) and material inspection requests (MIRs).
• Witness testing and commissioning where applicable.
• Raise observations/NCRs for non-compliant work and follow up on corrective actions.

5. Contractor Management

• Coordinate with the main contractor and subcontractors.
• Monitor contractor progress and technical performance.
• Review RFIs and provide technical responses.
• Attend coordination and progress meetings.

6. Project Monitoring

• Monitor progress against the approved project schedule.
• Identify delays, technical issues, and potential risks.
• Review contractor progress reports.
• Support the project manager in maintaining project quality, cost, and schedule objectives.

7. Authority & Code Compliance

• Ensure works comply with relevant UAE regulations, approved drawings, specifications, and authority requirements.
• Coordinate technical requirements with relevant authorities where required.
• Verify that approved materials and construction methods are being used.

8. Documentation

• Maintain inspection records and technical correspondence.
• Review as-built drawings and handover documentation.
• Maintain site reports, inspection reports, NCRs, RFIs, and technical submissions.
• Support preparation of project completion and handover documents.

9. Health & Safety

• Monitor contractor compliance with approved HSE requirements.
• Identify unsafe conditions during site inspections.
• Report major safety concerns to the project management team.
• Coordinate with the HSE team where required.

10. Client Coordination

• Represent the consultant during site activities.
• Provide technical advice to the client.
• Report construction issues, quality concerns, and progress status.
• Assist the client in making technical and commercial decisions.
