Job summary

Confidential Company is seeking a Civil Technical Engineer to provide technical and engineering support across the project lifecycle. You will focus on design coordination, technical submissions, shop drawings, material approvals, RFIs and method statements, resolving issues with consultants, PMs, site teams, QA/QC, subcontractors and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering certification or membership is an advantage.
• Training in BIM, AutoCAD, Revit or construction/project management would be beneficial.
• Minimum 5-8 years of UAE civil engineering experience.
• Experience as Technical/ Civil/ Design Engineer or similar role.
• Strong experience in technical documentation, shop drawings, RFIs, material submittals.
• Reinforced concrete and structural works knowledge.
• Civil construction methods and sequencing knowledge.
• Shop drawing preparation and review experience.
• Technical submittals and material approvals experience.
• RFI preparation and management experience.
• Method statements and design coordination experience.
• Technical documentation and reporting proficiency.
• Quality and inspection procedures understanding.
• Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit / BIM coordination, Navisworks, Civil 3D as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support on civil and structural engineering matters.

Job description

The Civil Technical Engineer is responsible for providing technical and engineering support throughout the project lifecycle with particular focus on design coordination technical submissions shop drawings material approvals RFIs method statements and resolution of technical issues. The role will coordinate closely with Consultants Project Managers Site Engineers QA QC teams subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that civil and structural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings specifications applicable standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to project teams on civil and structural engineering matters
• Review project drawings specifications design documents and contract requirements
• Identify discrepancies omissions and potential design issues and raise them for resolution
• Review and coordinate civil and structural shop drawings prior to submission to the Consultant
• Coordinate architectural structural civil and MEP interfaces to identify and resolve clashes
• Review design drawings against site conditions and identify constructability issues
• Prepare review and coordinate technical submissions in accordance with project specifications
• Prepare material submittals technical data sheets and product compliance documentation
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain required technical information
• Prepare and submit RFIs for design discrepancies missing information and technical clarifications
• Ensure approved RFI responses are communicated to the relevant project teams
• Maintain an organised record of RFIs responses and technical decisions
• Review temporary works proposals where required and coordinate with relevant specialists
• Ensure method statements reflect approved drawings specifications and project requirements
• Assist in evaluating alternative materials and proposed equivalent products
• Ensure materials proposed for use comply with project specifications and approved standards
• Coordinate with the Consultant regarding technical inspections and site issues
• Monitor the implementation of approved technical solutions on site
• Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders
• Escalate critical technical issues to the Technical Manager
• Review technical requirements related to inspections testing and approvals
• Ensure lessons learned and technical improvements are communicated to the project team

Qualifications
