Job summary

The Emirates Group in Dubai is seeking a Cargo Operations Agent to oversee the safe, efficient handling and processing of cargo, courier and mail within an assigned area of cargo warehouse and airside operations to achieve service delivery and efficiency targets.

You will direct a team through cargo processing, provide safety briefings, verify shipments, liaise with customs and other authorities, ensure GDP and IATA DG compliance, monitor ULDs, and communicate deviations to minimise impact on

Qualifications

• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

• Having completed 10 years of schooling or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Direct a team through cargo handling and processing in compliance with safety, quality and efficiency standards.
• Provide safety briefings to the assigned team to ensure safe work.
• Inspect and count goods to verify conformance and update shipment details for tracking.
• Liaise with customs, health and police to ensure timely movement of cargo.
• Ensure GDP and IATA Dangerous Goods compliance for shipments.
• Monitor loading/unloading, monitor deviations and communicate necessary amendments to protect service levels.

A World leader in air cargo We possess a geographical advantage that enables us to reach over 140 destinations across 6 continents We are able to cater to two-thirds of the world s population in just 8 hours and serve major international trade regions quickly and efficiently Our SkyCargo group works in partnership to facilitate global trade and connect customers with their destinations We have a young efficient wide-bodied fleet with ample capacity to transport cargo through our state-of-the-art multi-airport hub in Dubai and adapt to our customers ever-changing needs As a Cargo Operations Agent you will be responsible for the efficient and quality handling and processing of all cargo courier and mail within an assigned area of cargo warehouse airside operations to achieve service delivery and efficiency targets whilst ensuring safety and security compliance In this role you will

• Direct a team through the handling and or processing of cargo courier and mail activities in accordance with safety quality and efficiency standards
• Provide safety awareness briefings to assigned team so that work is carried out safely
• Inspect verify and count goods at every point of delivery acceptance breakdown and build-up to ensure that goods conform to relevant standards and update information in Skychain with shipment details to enable customers to track the status of their shipment
• Liaise with government authorities such as customs health or police to ensure the timely movement of all cargo courier and mail
• Ensure at all times that the handling of shipments of dangerous goods fully comply with the current edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and that the handling of time and temperature sensitive pharmaceutical shipments demonstrates compliance to the EU GDP requirements
• Perform the process of acceptance delivery build-up and breakdown monitoring of ULD AWB JNG and QRT on airside with the required connection window
• Plan the loading of cargo product into ULD s bulk on the assigned aircraft in accordance with given priorities and the volume and payload available to achieve the optimum utilisation of capacity
• Advise and validate any deviations from planned cargo uplift requirements so that amendments can be implemented to minimise the impact of deviations on service standards and revenue generation
• Inspect ULD s and ancillary cargo equipment reporting deficiencies for defect rectification in order to maintain safety standards prolong equipment life and reduce replacement costs
• Check for and monitor cargo irregularities and discrepancies damage loss etc initiate preventive corrective actions to minimise costs rising from claims
• Monitor the offloading unloading of cargo from onto arriving departing flights checking for irregularities and or deviations from standard policies and procedures and advising as necessary
• Monitor the delivery times of cargo from the ramp to the warehouse and subsequent processing to assure quality standards in respect of customer service detailing deviations in order to maintain and enhance product quality

Requirements

• Having completed 10 years of schooling or equivalent.
• Having a minimum of 2 years of experience in a cargo / logistics environment.
• Can communicate fluently in English (written and spoken).

Additional Considerations

• Have knowledge of aircraft handling, ramp handling, and cargo terminal handling procedures.
• Having a high level of knowledge and demonstrable competence in Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and Dangerous Goods handling.
• Can utilize computer applications including MS Office effectively, with previous knowledge of cargo management system.
