Job summary

AECOM is seeking a BIM Lead - Infrastructure Design for its Dubai, UAE projects. You will manage day-to-day BIM production and digital delivery, leading the production team and coordinating with design engineers and technicians to deliver coordinated models and drawings.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of infrastructure design production experience.
• At least 3 years leading a modelling or drafting team within a consultancy.
• Proven experience delivering drawing packages to local authority standards in the UAE or Saudi Arabia.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the team's models and drawings in accordance with the Task Information Delivery Plan and provide input to the master delivery plan.
• Coordinate with discipline design engineers on the team's technical production scope.
• Maintain and report project progress to the BIM Supervisor.
• Manage draw-ing checks, binding, and QC checks before packages progress to review.
• Set up data shortcuts, base plans, and milestone title block requirements.
• Supervise model development across utilities, MEICA, and related infrastructure.
• Apply design automation tools and report defects or production issues.
• Maintain the single source of truth used for 2D extraction of drawings.

Position Overview

AECOM is seeking an experienced BIM Lead - Infrastructure Design to manage day-to-day BIM production and digital delivery for infrastructure projects in Dubai, UAE. The role leads the project production team in delivering coordinated models and drawings while acting as the working interface between the BIM Supervisor, design engineers, and technicians. Key responsibilities include progress reporting, drawing quality control, model coordination, clash resolution, information delivery, and supervision of technical production across utilities and related infrastructure disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver the team's models and drawings in accordance with the Task Information Delivery Plan and provide the required input to the master delivery plan.


• Coordinate directly with discipline design engineers regarding the team's technical production scope.


• Maintain and report the project progress position to the BIM Supervisor.


• Manage cut sheets, drawing binding, and drawing quality control self-checks before packages progress to review.


• Set up and maintain data shortcuts, base plans, and title block milestone requirements.


• Supervise model development across wet utilities, dry utilities, MEICA, or smart technology according to the assigned discipline.


• Apply established design automation tools and report identified defects or production issues.


• Maintain the single source of truth used for 2D extraction of the team's drawings.

Model and Drawing Quality

• Validate discipline model submissions against the applicable model checklist.


• Check GIS data against the required GIS checklist.


• Apply drawing checklists and CAD standards compliance requirements across team outputs.


• Complete final drawing sanity checks before packages are issued for review.


• Manage document comments relating to drawings and models and track required actions through closure.

Clash Resolution and Coordination

• Carry out clash resolution activities for the team's models and establish responsibility for required corrections.


• Coordinate interfaces and tie-ins with neighbouring engineering disciplines.


• Attend production progress meetings and discipline coordination meetings.


• Support effective resolution of model, drawing, and interdisciplinary coordination issues.

Team Leadership and Development

• Provide internal training on authoring tools, the common data environment, standards, and established production processes.


• Mentor senior technicians and technicians.


• Set objectives and identify training requirements within the production team.


• Capture lessons learned from completed and ongoing project delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Geomatics, or a related discipline.


• Minimum 8 years of experience in infrastructure design production.


• At least 3 years of experience leading a modelling or drafting team within a consultancy.


• Proven experience delivering drawing packages to local authority standards in the UAE or Saudi Arabia.


• Fluent written and spoken English.

Technical Requirements

• Expert-level Civil 3D capability covering pipe and pressure networks, corridors, surfaces, data shortcuts, styles, label sets, and sheet sets.


• Strong AutoCAD capability.


• Navisworks experience for model review and clash resolution.


• Working experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360, including coordination spaces.


• Bluebeam Revu experience for markup and technical review.


• Familiarity with design automation tools.


• Dynamo or scripting experience is an advantage.

Digital Delivery Environment

This position combines hands-on BIM production leadership with model coordination, drawing control, multidisciplinary interfaces, and team development. The BIM Lead will help maintain reliable project information while ensuring models and drawing packages progress through the required quality and coordination checks before issue.
