Key Responsibilities
- Prepare bread, rolls, pastries, and other bakery items according to production sheets, recipes, and standard operating procedures.
- Measure, mix, knead, shape, proof, bake, cool, and finish products using approved methods.
- Transform raw ingredients into finished and semi-finished bakery products while maintaining consistent taste, texture, size, and appearance.
- Follow daily production plans and adjust quantities based on stock levels, customer demand, and supervisor instructions.
- Monitor baking temperatures, proofing times, mixing cycles, and product quality throughout production.
- Arrange bakery products in display counters according to freshness, presentation, and merchandising standards.
- Replenish bread and pastry displays throughout the trading day to maintain suitable availability.
- Rotate stock correctly and remove products that are expired, damaged, stale, or below quality standards.
- Record waste and production variances accurately according to section procedures.
- Assist customers with questions about ingredients, product varieties, availability, and suitable choices.
- Provide friendly, prompt, and professional service during all customer interactions.
- Promote current bakery offers and recommend complementary products when appropriate.
- Operate ovens, mixers, proofers, dough sheeters, scales, trays, and other bakery tools safely.
- Clean and sanitise bakery equipment before, during, and after production.
- Maintain high cleanliness standards in preparation areas, counters, freezers, chillers, and storage spaces.
- Store ingredients, dough, finished products, and packaging materials under the correct conditions.
- Follow food handling, personal hygiene, allergen control, temperature control, and cross‑contamination prevention requirements.
- Dispose of food waste safely and keep waste areas organised.
- Report defective equipment, ingredient shortages, safety concerns, and quality issues to the supervisor.
- Support colleagues during high production volumes and peak customer periods.
- Participate in training and professional development activities to improve baking techniques and operational knowledge.

Ideal Profile
- Minimum one to two years of experience as a baker, bakery assistant, pastry worker, or food production employee.
- Practical experience preparing bread, pastries, dough products, or similar baked goods.
- Familiarity with mixing, kneading, proofing, shaping, baking, cooling, and product finishing processes.
- Experience in a supermarket, hypermarket, commercial bakery, hotel, restaurant, or food production facility is preferred.
- Basic English reading, writing, and interpretation skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to read production sheets, recipes, labels, and basic operating instructions.
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, stock rotation, and product storage practices.
- Ability to operate bakery tools and equipment safely.
