Responsibilities

  • Lead legal support for Amazon's quick commerce real estate expansion across the assigned region.
  • Negotiate and draft leases for dark stores, micro-fulfillment sites, and ultra-fast delivery hubs.
  • Prepare and negotiate third-party services agreements connected with site acquisition and operation.
  • Manage legal workstreams across high-volume site acquisition pipelines with compressed timelines.
  • Advise business teams on non-standard real estate structures and rapidly changing project requirements.
  • Support the acquisition and management of logistics facilities, delivery infrastructure, and operational sites.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial leases for broader Amazon real estate requirements.
  • Review and negotiate build-to-suit agreements for logistics and operational developments.
  • Advise on development agreements involving landlords, developers, contractors, and other commercial parties.
  • Draft and review purchase contracts for real estate and operational facilities where applicable.
  • Provide legal guidance on construction and fit-out agreements.
  • Review project management contracts and advise on allocation of contractual responsibilities.
  • Negotiate enabling works packages required before site construction, fit-out, or operational launch.
  • Identify legal and commercial risks that could delay acquisition, construction, or opening of new locations.
  • Develop practical solutions that allow business teams to maintain aggressive expansion schedules.
  • Support property due diligence and evaluate legal issues affecting proposed sites.
  • Advise Real Estate and Operations teams throughout the site lifecycle.
  • Partner with Compliance teams on regulatory considerations affecting property and operational launches.
  • Coordinate legal requirements across jurisdictions with different property laws and regulatory frameworks.
  • Manage multiple transactions simultaneously while maintaining drafting quality and commercial consistency.
  • Develop scalable contracting approaches for recurring quick commerce transactions.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to align legal strategy with operational and commercial objectives.
  • Support negotiation strategy for complex landlord, developer, contractor, and service provider relationships.
  • Escalate significant legal risks while providing clear options for business decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate transaction records and ensure key contractual obligations are understood by relevant teams.

Role Context

The Associate Corporate Counsel will provide legal support at the intersection of quick commerce, real estate, logistics, construction, and regional expansion. The role will help Amazon acquire, lease, develop, fit out, launch, and operate dark stores, micro-fulfillment facilities, ultra-fast delivery hubs, and other logistics assets across multiple jurisdictions. Quick commerce projects operate on compressed delivery schedules and frequently involve unconventional commercial structures. The lawyer will therefore need to balance legal protection with practical execution, enabling transactions to move quickly while managing property, construction, regulatory, contractual, and operational risk.
