Job summary

AtkinsRéalis seeks an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer to support the Resident Engineer in supervising a Roads and Infrastructure Project in Abu Dhabi. The role covers site supervision, documentation, QA/QC, and safety compliance, requiring a strong command of English and extensive field experience.

The ideal candidate will have a Civil Engineering degree, 10+ years total experience with at least 5 in supervision, and UPDA Grade A is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant discipline (WHED-listed).
• Total experience of at least 10 years, with a minimum of 5 years in site supervision of roads/infrastructure projects.
• Chartered/Professional Engineer preferred; UPDA Grade A.
• Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
• Familiar with document management systems (Ashghal DCS), MS Office, AutoCAD (viewing) and site-related software.

Responsibilities

• Support the Resident Engineer in day-to-day site supervision of roadworks, drainage, utilities, or structural components.
• Coordinate with site inspectors to monitor contractor activities and ensure compliance with drawings, method statements and specs.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, ITPs, and material submittals for assigned disciplines.
• Prepare daily reports, maintain site records, and track progress and quality observations.
• Monitor progress against the contractor's programme and address slippages or non-conformances.
• Participate in technical and progress meetings and report issues to the RE.
• Ensure inspection and testing activities follow the QA/QC plan.
• Liaise with stakeholders and other engineering disciplines on-site to resolve coordination issues.
• Monitor and report on safety compliance with HSE staff.
