Job summary

AECOM in Abu Dhabi seeks an Assistant Resident Engineer – Civil & Wet Utilities to assist the Resident Engineer in supervising civil and wet utilities construction works. You will ensure compliance with drawings, specs, method statements, and project quality requirements.

Ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree with UAE project experience and strong coordination, communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Relevant experience in civil and wet utilities construction and site supervision.
• Good knowledge of stormwater drainage, sewerage, potable water, irrigation, and infrastructure works.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and method statements.
• UAE experience on infrastructure projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise civil and wet utilities construction activities per drawings, specs and project requirements.
• Oversee wet utilities works including stormwater drainage, sewerage, potable water and irrigation networks.
• Supervise pipeline installation, manholes, catch basins, chambers, valves and fittings.
• Monitor civil works including excavation, earthworks, backfilling, compaction and concrete works.
• Review contractor submissions including shop drawings, method statements, material submittals and ITPs.
• Review and verify Inspection Requests (IRs), RFIs and quality documentation.
• Monitor progress to ensure compliance with approved programmes and project specs.
• Coordinate with contractor, inspectors, surveyors, utility authorities and other disciplines to resolve site issues.
• Monitor testing activities such as pipeline testing, CCTV inspections and commissioning.
• Identify defective or non-conforming works and follow up on corrective actions.
• Assist the Resident Engineer in managing site activities, quality, safety and interfaces.
• Support final inspections, testing, handover and closeout of works.
