Job summary

Majid Al Futtaim is seeking an Area Manager for MAF Retail Head Office UAE. The role leads a defined group of stores, drives sales, margin, and ensures consistency in merchandising, freshness and service quality across the area.

You will own area P&L, coach Store Managers, translate plans into actions, monitor performance, and build a culture of ownership and continuous improvement while maintaining compliance and cost discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Retail Management or related field.
• 8+ years retail experience with at least 3 years in a senior area or multi-site leadership role.
• Proven experience managing store performance, people leadership, P&L accountability, customer service and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead Store Managers to achieve area priorities and targets.
• Translate country and division plans into clear store actions covering commercial, operational, people and customer priorities.
• Maintain leadership visibility through store visits, performance reviews and timely follow-up on gaps and risks.
• Build a culture of ownership, compliance, collaboration and continuous improvement across the area.
• Own area P&L delivery, including sales, margin, waste, shrinkage, staff cost, operating expenses and profitability.
• Ensure stores execute merchandising, promotions, assortment, availability, inventory and display standards.
• Drive freshness across fresh food and short-life categories through rotation, date-code control, replenishment discipline and waste reduction.
• Use commercial, stock, margin, shrinkage and customer data to identify gaps and agree corrective actions.

ROLE SUMMARY
The Area Manager provides accountable leadership across a defined group of stores, ensuring that Store Managers and their teams deliver consistent commercial performance, operational excellence and superior customer experience. The role holder owns area-level P&L delivery, drives sales, margin, waste and cost performance, and ensures disciplined execution of merchandising standards with a strong focus on product freshness, availability, hygiene, food safety and service quality.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Retail Management or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of retail experience, including at least 3 years in a senior store, area or multi‑site leadership role.
• Proven experience managing store performance, people leadership, P&L accountability, customer service and operational standards.
• Build Store Manager capability through clear objectives, regular coaching, feedback and performance conversations.
• Drive engagement and motivation by ensuring frontliners are listened to, supported and followed up with action.
• Manage performance and PIPs appropriately, with clear expectations, documentation, timelines and close coaching.
