Job summary

Mott MacDonald in Dubai seeks an Architect Inspector to oversee architectural construction activities and verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The role requires UAE experience and the ability to read drawings, submittals, and BIM models within a large projects team.

The ideal candidate will monitor finishes, coordinate with contractors and other inspectors, and contribute to snagging, handover, and close-out processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering or similar field.
Experience supervising/inspecting architectural works on building projects.
Strong experience in residential, commercial or mixed-use developments.
Mandatory UAE experience with knowledge of local authority requirements.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specs, and shop drawings.

Responsibilities

Inspect site architectural activities to ensure quality and compliance with contract requirements, approved drawings and specifications.
Review and ensure use of approved materials and systems on site per submittals.
Monitor architectural finishes, workmanship, and installation methods during construction.
Prepare daily site inspection records and photos.
Assist during inspections by client representatives and authorities; participate in snagging and final handover.

Job Description

Main Purpose of the Job

The duties of the Architect Inspector shall include but not be limited to the following tasks:

Key Responsibilities / Duties

Inspect site architectural activities to ensure quality of work is in compliance with contract requirements, approved drawings, specifications, and good construction practices.
Ensure that only approved materials and systems are used on site in accordance with approved submittals.
Review architectural materials delivered to site and ensure compliance with approved samples and specifications.
Monitor architectural finishes, workmanship, and installation methods during construction.
Report and follow up non-compliance cases observed during site inspections and advise the resident engineer / deputy project manager accordingly.
Coordinate with contractors and other discipline inspectors to ensure proper interface and sequencing of works.
Review architectural method statements submitted by contractors and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
Maintain daily site inspection records, reports, and photographic documentation.
Assist the project team during inspections by client representatives and authorities.
Participate in snagging, de-snagging, and final inspections prior to handover.
Assist in reviewing architectural as-built drawings and close-out documentation as submitted by contractors.

Candidate Specifications

Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering or any relevant engineering.
Experience in Architectural site supervision / inspection of building projects.
Strong experience in buildings projects including residential, commercial, or mixed-use developments.
Prior UAE experience is mandatory, with knowledge of local authority requirements and construction practices.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD for reviewing and interpreting architectural drawings.
Basic knowledge of BIM tools (e.g., Revit) is preferred.
