Job summary

AECOM in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is seeking an experienced Architect - Rail to design, develop and oversee rail infrastructure solutions that meet safety, efficiency and innovation standards. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver world-class rail systems supporting the region's transportation goals.

The role requires 5+ years of rail design experience, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD/Revit), and knowledge of EN/IEC UAE standards, with English fluency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in rail infrastructure design, transportation systems architecture, or related engineering disciplines.
• Proven expertise in rail system design, including track systems, stations, signaling, and operational infrastructure.
• Advanced proficiency with CAD software and design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of railway standards and regulations (EN, IEC, and local UAE standards).
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects from concept through completion.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex technical challenges.
• Strong project management capabilities and experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in technical documentation and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
• Knowledge of BIM and integrated design methodologies (preferred).
• Experience with cost estimation and budget management for infrastructure projects (preferred).
• Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory compliance frameworks in the rail industry.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in all technical deliverables.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop rail infrastructure systems, including track layouts, station facilities, signaling systems, and operational infrastructure.
• Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies and technical assessments to evaluate project requirements and constraints.
• Prepare detailed architectural drawings, technical specifications, and design documentation using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
• Analyze complex system requirements and propose optimized solutions that balance technical performance, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with organizational objectives.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable safety standards, regulatory requirements, and international rail industry best practices.
• Oversee the implementation phase of projects, providing technical guidance and quality assurance to ensure designs are executed as specified.
• Maintain and manage comprehensive technical documentation, including design records, change logs, and project deliverables.
• Participate in design reviews and provide expert recommendations to optimize system performance and reliability.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in rail infrastructure and transportation systems.
