Job summary

AECOM in Dubai seeks an experienced Construction Manager specializing in civils and rail cut & cover projects to oversee site activities from inception to handover. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, ensure schedule adherence, monitor safety, and coordinate with client and stakeholders to deliver complex civil works on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering background with at least 15 years in rail construction, strong leadership, risk and contract

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field; advanced degrees or certifications preferred.
• At least 15 years in construction management, specifically rail design and consultancy.
• Experience in risk management, contract administration and procurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee civil and rail construction activities from inception to completion.
• Ensure progress aligns with contractors' schedule and manage site safety.
• Monitor labor, equipment, and materials and ensure regulatory compliance in UAE.
• Lead site inspections, testing, and commissioning per PM processes.

• Prepare progress reports for management and the client.
• Manage contracts, claims avoidance, and contractual performance conditions.
• Oversee site safety plan and contractor performance.
• Coordinate planning, design and construction management activities with project team.
• Mentor subordinates and oversee project administration through construction cycle.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Manager specializing in civils and cut & cover projects to join our team in Dubai United Arab Emirates. You are responsible for overseeing the construction of civil works and cut and cover tunnels. Their duties include the following.

Duties:

• Oversee construction activities within the site boundaries from inception to completion.
• Ensure progress of works are carried out according to contractors schedule
• Monitor and report availability of labors equipment and tools and ensure they all are in acceptable operating level and in accordance with all legal laws and rules of UAE and the specific requirements of the project.
• Undertake site inspections testing and commissioning as per the project management process
• Ensure that contractors have obtained all necessary permits to work.
• Assist the client in overseeing construction by identifying risks opportunities and recommending strategies for cost savings and improved project delivery timelines.
• Generate internal and external reports related to project status summarizing construction activity progress for higher-level management and the Client.
• Understand contracts and effectively manage related risks comprehend claim avoidance and handle claims from a construction perspective when necessary. Fulfill contractual performance conditions.
• Oversee site safety supervision by contributing to the development implementation and maintenance of the site safety plan.
• Manage contractors by establishing priorities and objectives overseeing performance and providing continuous feedback guidance and direction to ensure contractors fulfill their contractual legal moral and other obligations.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards health and safety requirements and regulatory compliance throughout construction execution.
• Any ad-hoc duty assigned by the line manager.
• Acts as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
• Oversees the administration of projects during the construction cycle including technical financial and client satisfaction.
• Accountable for the development coordination and execution of the planning design and/or construction management activities and personnel under individuals direction on a day-to-day.

Qualifications :

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• A bachelors degree in civil engineering architecture or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications are preferred.
• A minimum of 15 years of experience in similar construction management roles specifically in rail design and consultancy projects.
• Experience in risk management contract administration and procurement processes.

Key Knowledge and Skills:

A proven track record of successfully managing large-scale rail construction projects from inception to completion.

• Strong leadership skills and experience in managing multidisciplinary construction teams.
• Excellent communication negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices standards and regulations related to airport construction.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
