Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Youth Development Facilitator in Cape Town to empower and guide diverse groups of young people. You will design and deliver life skills and personal development activities, mentor individuals, and foster a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Ideal candidates have experience with youth, strong facilitation and communication skills, and a passion for social upliftment in the Western Cape. Some curriculum development and travel within the region may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth in facilitation or mentorship roles.
• Strong understanding of youth development principles and adolescent psychology.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and active listening skills.
• Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
• Experience in curriculum development or activity planning is an asset.
• Proficiency with basic computer skills and record-keeping.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young people.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging workshops and activities focused on life skills, career readiness, and personal development for youth.
• Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to young participants, addressing individual needs and aspirations.
• Facilitate group discussions and activities that promote critical thinking, teamwork, and self-expression.
• Collaborate with program managers to develop and refine youth development curricula and strategies.
• Monitor participant progress and provide regular feedback to the program team and stakeholders.
• Connect youth with resources and opportunities within the Cape Town community.
• Organize and supervise youth events, field trips, and community service projects.
• Maintain accurate records of participant engagement, progress, and outcomes.
• Champion the organization's mission and values among youth participants and the wider community.
