Staff Unlimited Recruitment is seeking a Workshop Manager (Diesel Mechanic) for our Pretoria client in the transport and logistics sector. The role is hands-on with leadership of the workshop team, overseeing repairs, diagnostics, and documentation.

You will manage day-to-day operations, coordinate shutdowns, and ensure high-quality work while meeting schedules.

Qualifications

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic with SA certification.
• 8–10 years’ industry experience.
• Previous workshop management or supervisory experience.
• Strong experience working on Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
• Bodywork and welding skills.
• Experience with the Mercedes-Benz Star Diagnostic System.
• Valid South African EC driver’s licence.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Hardworking, reliable and able to work under pressure.
• Willing to work overtime and attend to mechanical breakdowns when required.
• Own tools will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day workshop operations.
• Lead, manage and mentor workshop staff.
• Oversee the Workshop Foreman at another branch and provide guidance and support.
• Oversee vehicle repairs, maintenance and breakdowns.
• Manage job cards, licensing administration and workshop documentation.
• Control workshop costs, stock, tools and equipment.
• Ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Assist with technical troubleshooting and diagnostics.
