Job summary

ALPLA Group in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a hands-on worker to cut and prepare PET materials by removing wires and obstructions. You will operate cutting tools safely, inspect tools, and coordinate with the handling team to keep production flowing.

The role requires physical endurance, and preference is given to those with Matric or equivalent and experience in manufacturing or recycling settings. Closing date is 30 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent preferred.
• Manufacturing or recycling plant experience preferred but not required.
• Must be able to perform manual labour, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to accurately cut and remove wires without damaging materials.

Responsibilities

• Cut and remove wire or metallic components from PET bales using wire cutters or pliers.
• Safely operate cutting equipment and follow safety guidelines to prevent injury or damage to materials.
• Prepare PET materials by removing wires, ties, or obstructions.
• Sort and dispose of removed wires in designated recycling or waste areas.
• Inspect and maintain wire cutting tools to ensure they are in proper working condition.
• Report malfunctions, damage, or replacement needs to the supervisor.
• Follow plant safety protocols and use PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, and hard hats.
• Be aware of hazards associated with wire cutting and handling of materials.
• Work with material handling team to ensure continuous flow of materials into recycling process.
• Communicate any issues or delays that may affect production timelines.
