Job summary

Pronel Personnel is seeking a qualified Welder for a leading poultry producer on the South Coast. The role involves maintenance, repair, and fabrication of processing machinery and infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will perform MIG, TIG and Arc welding on stainless and mild steel, read technical drawings, and ensure compliance with food safety and safety standards. Shift work and reliable transport are required.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Trade Certificate in Welding or Boilermaking is essential/preferred.
• Proven experience in MIG, TIG, and Arc welding.
• Strong experience with stainless steel, preferably in food/poultry manufacturing.
• Experience with mild steel fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and WPS.
• Ability to fabricate and install machinery components, pipework, chutes, structural steel and related equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with fault-finding abilities.
• Sound understanding of health and safety protocols.
• Attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable, disciplined and a team player.
• Willingness to work shifts and standby in a 24/7 environment.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance & Repairs: Perform urgent and routine maintenance and repairs on food processing machinery, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, and other plant equipment to maximise production output and minimise downtime.

• Fabrication & Installation: Fabricate, install, modify, and repair stainless steel and mild steel equipment, including pipework, chutes, cages, platforms, and structural steel.

• Fault Finding & Diagnostics: Diagnose faults and failures on machinery, equipment, and structural components and rectify issues through welding, cutting, fabrication, and repair.

• Welding: Perform high-quality MIG, TIG, and Arc welding on a range of materials and equipment.

• Technical Drawings: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) to ensure accurate fabrication and installation.

• Food Industry Standards: Ensure all fabrication, repairs, and maintenance activities meet required food safety, hygiene, quality, and engineering standards.

• Health & Safety: Adhere to all company health and safety procedures and applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.

• Shift & Standby: Be willing to work shifts, weekends, standby duties, and emergency call-outs as required in a 24/7 production environment.
