Job summary

Gold Fields’ South Deep Gold Mine is seeking a Winding Engine Driver Coordinator in the Engineering – Infrastructure department. The role coordinates Winding Engine Driver activities, staffing and shift arrangements to ensure safe and efficient shaft transportation of personnel, materials and ore, while upholding safety standards and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will have a Grade 12, WED Certificate of Competence, Onsetter Certificate, and at least 5 years’ WED experience with

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Winding Engine Driver’s Certificate of Competence.
• Onsetter Certificate.
• 5 years’ experience as a Winding Engine Driver, with 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Must be medically fit per risk-based medical and heat tolerance tests.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard health and safety by applying prescribed standards during winding operations.
• Promote zero-harm culture and comply with safety, health, and environmental requirements.
• Perform inspections and tests on winding equipment and installations.
• Verify logbooks are accurate and countersigned as required.
• Coordinate driver allocation and relief coverage for staffing of winding machines.
• Report defects and escalate maintenance concerns following prescribed protocols.
• Monitor SHERQ compliance and provide coaching to address gaps.
