Job summary

Level Up - Your Talent Partner client seeks a Winding Engine Driver for the Mining Department. You will identify electrical and mechanical faults while overseeing winding operations and hoisting. You will ensure safe movement of personnel and materials in the shaft and maintain logs and shift reports.

The role requires 2+ years of experience, Grade 12, and relevant certificates, with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance. Shifts are rotating and may include overtime.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• AC & DC Winding Engine driver's Certificate.
• Onsetter's Certificate.
• Minimum 2 years' experience.
• Valid Driver Licence.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to interpret messages on a driver's display.
• Contract of employment subject to medical examination and police clearance.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate safe hoisting of persons, materials and ore, up and down the shaft.
• Record winding engine conditions daily.
• Responsible for the safe movement of men and material in a conveyance or shaft.
• Transmit and respond to signals.
• Complete drivers log book daily and note stoppages and reasons.
• Advise Banksman and Cage Attendant regarding simplification of work during shift.
• Verify load weights and check against lifting capacities to prevent overload.
• Be able to verify the weight of a load.
• Inspect and test winder for legal compliance.
• Perform risk assessments (General and Mini).
• Physically operate the winding engine to hoist and lower men, materials and ore in the shaft in compliance with the Minerals Act.
• Prepare shift operations reports, record breakdowns and levels of productivity and report to relevant stakeholders at end of shift.
• Required to perform other duties within the Company as needed.
• Work rotational shifts, overtime, standby and be available for call-outs.
• Work according to the Mine Code of Practice and report observations if not followed.

Our client is currently looking into recruiting a WINDING ENGINE DRIVER to join their team in the Mining Department. As the Winding Engine Driver, you will act and identify any electrical and/or mechanical faults while looking after the Winders operations.

Your role will include but not limited to:

• Facilitate the safe hoisting of persons, materials and ore, up and down the shaft.
• Record conditions of winding engine daily.
• Responsible for the safe movement of men and material in a conveyance or ship
• Responsible for transmitting and reacting to signals.
• Responsible to complete drivers log book daily and to list stoppages and reasons.
• Advise and make recommendations to the Banks man and Cage Attendant regarding simplification of work during shift.
• Verify and Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload.
• Be able to verify the weight of a load.
• Inspect and test winder for legal compliance.
• Perform risk assessments (General and Mini)
• Physically operate the winding engine to hoist and lower men, materials and ore in the shaft in compliance with the Minerals Act.
• Prepare shift operations reports, record breakdowns and levels of productivity and report to the relevant stakeholders at the end of the shift.
• Required to perform other duties that may reasonably be expected of him/her within Company from time to time.
• Work rotational shifts, overtime, do standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise.
• Work according to the Mine Code of Practice and report any observations of this not being done.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

• Grade 12 Certificate or Relevant Educational Qualifications.
• Valid AC & DC Winding Engine drivers Certificate and Onsetter's Certificate.
• Minimum 2 years' experience.
• Valid Driver Licence.
• Basic Computer Literacy skills with the ability to interpret messages on driver's display screen.
• Contract of employment depend on successful medical examination and police clearance.
