Welding Technology Lab Assistant (Continuous Recruitment)

This position is responsible for assisting instructors and students in the welding lab. The purpose of a continuous recruitment posting is to build a pool of interested applicants to support the program as enrollment increases.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Maintaining supplies and equipment for the laboratories and stock rooms.

  • Assisting faculty with the preparation and administration of student assignments.

  • Maintaining inventory in supply cribs and generating supply orders for the Director and/or Lead Instructor.

  • Assisting in the development and enforcement of safety practices in the instructional laboratories.

  • Preparing materials and machinery for lab exercises.

  • Performing other job‑specific duties as assigned by the Director or Lead Instructor.

  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area.


Qualifications

General Qualifications



  • Ability to write using proper grammar and punctuation.

  • Ability to apply and understand standard mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and other mathematical functions as needed.

  • Understanding of and commitment to the unique nature and role of the College and the philosophy of the community college system.


Required Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience and proficiency with manual and semi‑automatic welding equipment.

  • Extensive knowledge of safety procedures related to welding, cutting, and brazing.

  • Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency.

  • Oral and written communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.


Physical Demands


  • Regularly required to talk or hear.

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, fingers, and arms; reach with hands and arms.

  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment


  • Required to wear eye protection and other PPE as needed; noise level may require ear protection.
