Job summary

Surry Community College is seeking a Part-Time Science Coach to support science courses and LMS pages. The role involves helping students by appointment, both in person and virtually, under the supervision of the Dean of Instructional Support and the Division Chair – Sciences.

Applicants should be proficient in science andragogy, capable of synchronous and asynchronous work, and able to support students with course-related tasks and tutoring records.

Job Description - Summary

The Science Coach (PT) works closely with the Dean of Instructional Support, the Division Chair – Sciences, as well as Academic Support Center staff. The Coach assists during Science courses and within LMS course pages and assists students by appointment. Applicants must be proficient in Sciences andragogy, be able to work synchronously and asynchronously, and work in-person and virtually as needed.
The is a part-time position; no more that 28 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A. Meeting with students to help them complete course-related work.
B. Maintain documentation on the courses and times tutored and submit records to the Dean of Instructional Support.
C. Performing other job specific duties as assigned Dean of Instructional Support and the Division Chair – Sciences.
D. Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Required Qualifications
