Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct daily operations of the structural steel fabrication workshop in Cape Town .
• Ensure all fabricated steel components meet project specifications, engineering drawings, and quality control standards.
• Manage and train fabrication team members, providing clear instructions and ongoing support.
• Plan and schedule fabrication tasks to meet project timelines and delivery requirements.
• Oversee the safe operation of fabrication equipment, including welding machines, cutting tools, and overhead cranes.
• Conduct regular inspections of work-in-progress and finished products to identify and rectify any defects.
• Implement and enforce strict health and safety protocols within the fabrication facility.
• Manage inventory of raw materials and consumables, ensuring adequate stock levels.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site teams to address any fabrication-related queries or challenges.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement in fabrication techniques and workshop efficiency.

Requirements

• Proven experience in structural steel fabrication, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of various welding processes, steel fitting, and finishing techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret complex structural engineering drawings and blueprints accurately.
• Strong understanding of metal properties and fabrication tolerances.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
