Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Water Resources Engineer for Mossel Bay, Western Cape, SA. You will contribute to planning, design and management of water-related infrastructure, including supply systems and coastal protection, while promoting environmental sustainability.

The role involves collaborating with authorities and communities to implement effective water strategies, conduct hydrological analyses and ensure compliance with regulations in a scenic coastal region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with Water Resources specialization.
• 7+ years of water resource management and infrastructure design experience.
• Proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, EPANET).
• Strong understanding of water treatment, environmental regulations and coastal engineering principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
• Pr. Eng registration with ECSA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop water resource management strategies including supply, distribution and conservation plans.
• Design and oversee construction of water and wastewater facilities, pipelines and related infrastructure.
• Conduct hydrological studies, flood risk assessments and coastal erosion analyses.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, water quality standards and coastal zoning policies.
• Collaborate with environmental scientists, urban planners and government agencies on water projects.
• Prepare technical reports, EIAs and operational guidelines for water systems.
