Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Civil Design Engineer specializing in coastal and water management to lead design and implementation of coastal protection and water resource projects in Mossel Bay. You will work from feasibility through detailed design and construction oversight, collaborating with environmental specialists and local authorities.

The role emphasizes coastal processes, hydrology, and regulatory compliance in the Western Cape, with a hybrid work model offering flexibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience designing coastal structures and water management systems.
• ECSA registration with Pr Eng or Pr Tech is advantageous.
• Proficiency with Delft3D, MIKE suite, HEC-RAS and CAD.
• Strong knowledge of coastal processes and environmental regulations in Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement coastal protection structures, such as seawalls and groynes, considering wave dynamics and sediment transport.
• Develop integrated stormwater management plans for urban and coastal developments.
• Conduct hydraulic modeling and analysis for rivers, estuaries, and drainage networks.
• Prepare design reports, environmental impact assessment inputs, and construction drawings.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Undertake site investigations and provide construction supervision for water-related infrastructure projects.
