Job description

Are you a hands-on Warehouse Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment where volume, accuracy and customer service really matter?

Our client is a growing, proudly South African manufacturing business supplying electrical products into the retail, wholesale and trade markets. With hundreds of SKUs, hundreds of thousands of products moving through the operation each month to 2,500 customers, the warehouse is a critical part of the business's ability to deliver for its customers.

The Warehouse Manager will take ownership of the operation, drive warehouse productivity and stock accuracy, and ensure customer orders are consistently picked, packed and ready for dispatch on time.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be expected to be visible on the warehouse floor, set the pace, solve problems and hold the team accountable for delivering against clear operational standards.

You will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the warehouse, working closely with Production and Logistics to ensure a smooth flow from manufacturing through to customer dispatch.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking ownership of finished goods and raw material warehouse operations.

  • Ensuring accurate receiving, put-away, binning, stock movements and system transactions.

  • Driving stock accuracy through effective cycle counts, stock takes and variance investigations.

  • Managing the picking, packing and staging of customer orders.

  • Ensuring orders are ready for dispatch within required customer timeframes.

  • Driving OTIF (On-Time In-Full) performance and improving warehouse cycle times.

  • Planning and prioritising picking according to daily dispatch requirements and customer commitments.

  • Managing warehouse labour, attendance, overtime, shifts and productivity.

  • Leading and developing warehouse team leaders and operational staff.

  • Setting clear expectations around productivity, accuracy, conduct and performance.

  • Identifying bottlenecks and continuously improving warehouse layout, slotting and workflow.

  • Ensuring finished goods move efficiently from Production into the warehouse and system.

  • Using warehouse KPIs to identify issues and drive measurable improvement.

  • Maintaining strong housekeeping, 5S and occupational health and safety standards.

Required Experience and Skills:
  • Experience operating in a high volume, high SKU warehouse environment successfully.

  • At least 5 years' warehouse management experience.

  • Experience within FMCG, consumer goods, retail distribution, hardware, manufacturing, electrical distribution or trade distribution.

  • Experience supplying major retail customers, preferably from the supplier/ manufacturer side.

  • Strong finished-goods, picking, packing and dispatch experience.

  • Proven responsibility for inventory accuracy and stock control.

  • Experience managing warehouse KPIs such as stock accuracy, pick rates, OTIF and labour productivity.

  • Strong people-management and performance-management experience.

  • Experience working with an ERP/WMS system.

  • Syspro experience is advantageous, although strong experience with another ERP/WMS will be considered.

  • Matric as a minimum, with a relevant Logistics, Supply Chain, Warehouse or Operations qualification advantageous.

  • A valid driver's licence.

  • Forklift/MHE certification would be advantageous.

This is an entrepreneurial environment, so you'll need to be comfortable operating with less bureaucracy and more personal accountability. The expectation is that you will bring solutions, not just problems.
