Job summary

HotelJobs in Malta is seeking experienced Waiters to join a luxury hotel group. Visa application and onboarding take 6–8 months; visa cost around EUR 2,500.

The role involves welcoming guests, maintaining tables, presenting menus, and coordinating with chefs and bar teams to ensure a superb dining experience. Requirements include at least 2 years in hospitality, experience in luxury settings, excellent English, and strong service skills.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years' previous experience as a Waiter or in a similar Food and Beverage service position.
• Previous experience within a hotel, resort, restaurant or professional hospitality environment is required.
• Experience within a luxury hotel, fine dining restaurant or high-end hospitality operation will be highly advantageous.
• Good knowledge of professional restaurant service procedures.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests in a warm, friendly and professional manner and ensure a positive experience from the moment they arrive.
• Prepare restaurant and dining areas before service, ensuring tables are correctly set, clean and presented according to established hotel standards.
• Present menus to guests and provide clear information regarding available food and beverage options.
• Explain menu items, daily specials and beverage selections and provide recommendations when requested.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately and communicate orders efficiently to the kitchen and bar teams.
• Serve food and beverages professionally, following the required sequence of service and maintaining excellent presentation standards.
• Ensure that guests receive their orders promptly and check that they are satisfied throughout their dining experience.
• Remain attentive to guest requirements while respecting their privacy and allowing them to enjoy a relaxed dining experience.
• Respond professionally to guest questions, requests and concerns and elevate any complaints to the appropriate supervisor or manager when necessary.
• Maintain strong knowledge of menu items, ingredients, preparation methods and potential allergens in order to answer guest questions accurately.
• Assist guests with dietary requirements and communicate special requests clearly to the kitchen team.
• Clear and reset tables efficiently while ensuring that restaurant areas remain clean, organised and welcoming throughout the service period.
• Work closely with chefs, bartenders, hosts and other Food and Beverage team members to provide seamless service.
• Follow cash-handling and payment procedures in accordance with established operational standards.
• Consistently represent the high standards expected within a luxury hospitality environment.

Waiters - Requirements

• Good knowledge of professional restaurant service procedures.
• Strong customer service skills with a genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good command of spoken English is required. Knowledge of additional languages will be advantageous.
• Professional; friendly and confident manner when communicating with guests.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Ability to remain calm, organised and professional during busy service periods.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multicultural Food and Beverage team.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high service standards.
• Basic computer skills and previous experience using restaurant POS systems will be advantageous.

Salary

EUR 15000 gross per year (approx. ZAR 23000 per month).
