Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Security Architect in Durban to design and oversee secure, scalable systems aligned with business goals. You will translate complex requirements into security blueprints, lead engineering and operations teams, and champion best practices in cloud, IAM, and data protection.

The role also involves threat modeling, reviewing designs for risk, and collaborating with stakeholders to implement resilient defenses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of information security experience with a focus on architecture and design.
• Expertise in cloud security architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP), network security, IAM, and data security.
• Strong understanding of security frameworks, threat modeling, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Experience with security testing tools and vulnerability management programs.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the organization's security architecture to meet business requirements and industry best practices.
• Develop and document security architecture standards, patterns, and guidelines.
• Evaluate and recommend new security technologies to enhance the security posture.
• Provide technical leadership on security architecture to development and operations teams.
• Conduct security design reviews for new systems and applications to ensure compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand threat models and design defensive strategies.
