Job summary

Motus GWM Pretoria is seeking a skilled automotive technician responsible for assessing, diagnosing and repairing vehicle faults, and performing services and maintenance to OEM standards.

You will test drive, communicate findings to service advisors and customers, prepare accurate estimates, carry out repairs from oil changes to gearbox or engine work, use diagnostic equipment correctly, and complete all OEM training. Maintain a clean, safe workshop and support colleagues across departments.

Responsibilities

• Test drive vehicles to assess the work done and for diagnosis of issues customers bring vehicles in for.
• Move between Workshop, Service Advisors and Parts department to generate quotes for repairs.
• Discuss repair orders with service advisors and customers and provide clear explanations.
• Provide accurate diagnosis to enable cost/time/effort estimates for repairs.
• Carry out maintenance, repair and diagnostic work as instructed, in standing or bent positions as required.
• Perform tasks such as replacing oil or lubricating equipment; inspect/repair/replace damaged parts; may involve gearbox/engine removal and refit.
• Use diagnostic equipment correctly for vehicle diagnosis and repair.
• Follow OEM and warranty requirements in all duties.
• Ensure diagnosis leads to cost-effective and accurate remedies.
• Keep service and maintenance within manufacturer's time targets.
• Return vehicles to customers clean, safe and presentable after service/repair.
• Produce legible paperwork reflecting work performed.
• Provide advice/support to other mechanics on technical matters.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment and complete required OEM training.
