The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering, 4+ years of field experience, and a proven ability to work under pressure while ensuring safety and equipment

About the Role Our client, a significant entity in the global Energy market, is seeking a hands-on and experienced Upstream Oil & Gas Field Engineer to join their operations in Mossel Bay, Western Cape . This challenging role requires direct involvement in the daily operations of offshore or onshore oil and gas production facilities. You will be responsible for monitoring well performance, troubleshooting operational issues, implementing production optimization strategies, and ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of all field equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in petroleum engineering and a proven ability to work effectively in demanding field environments. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor daily production operations and well performance.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve operational problems and equipment malfunctions.
• Implement and optimize artificial lift systems (e.g., ESPs, gas lift).
• Oversee maintenance activities and ensure equipment integrity.
• Conduct field tests and analyze data to assess reservoir performance and production efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
• Collaborate with geoscientists, drilling engineers, and other disciplines.
• Prepare daily operational reports and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Participate in well intervention planning and execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in field operations within the upstream oil and gas industry.
• Proven experience with production operations, artificial lift, and well diagnostics.
• Strong understanding of oil and gas production processes and equipment.
• Familiarity with HSE regulations and best practices in field operations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
• Willingness to work in remote field locations and adhere to operational schedules.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform duties in challenging environmental conditions.
