The President Hotel in Cape Town invites applications from experienced Waitrons to join our Food & Beverage team. If you thrive in a fast-paced, guest‑facing role with a passion for hospitality, we want to hear from you.

We require a minimum 2 years' recent experience in a hotel or upmarket restaurant, strong knowledge of F&B service, and excellent communication skills. Shift flexibility, professional appearance, and SA work eligibility are essential.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric Certificate is required.
• Minimum 2 years' recent experience as a Waitron within a hotel or upmarket restaurant environment.
• Experience in a busy 4-star or 5-star hotel environment is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
• Good knowledge of menu items, beverages and basic food and wine pairing.
• Experience with restaurant POS systems is advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confident, professional and engaging with guests.
• Ability to anticipate guest needs and deliver personalised service.
• Ability to stay calm and organized during peak service periods.
• Attention to presentation standards.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to professional service standards.
• Ability to work well in a Food & Beverage team.
• Flexibility to work shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Professional grooming and presentation.
• South African citizen or valid work permit.
• A fully updated CV with references.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming guests warmly and professionally and making a strong first impression.
• Taking food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
• Guiding guests through menus, daily specials and beverage selections.
• Making suitable food, wine and beverage recommendations based on guest preferences.
• Serving food and beverages professionally according to hotel standards.
• Keeping tables set, maintained and cleared during service.
• Anticipating guest needs and providing attentive service.
• Handling guest requests, queries and concerns efficiently.
• Upselling menu items, beverages and dining experiences to maximise revenue.
• Processing orders and payments accurately through the POS system.
• Maintaining a clean, organized service area and restaurant.
• Communicating effectively with kitchen, bar and F&B team.
• Supporting colleagues during busy periods for smooth operations.
• Following food safety, hygiene and service procedures at all times.
• Upholding The President Hotel's guest service standards on every shift.
