Our client, a prominent national logistics provider, is seeking a skilled Transportation Planner to join their regional operations team in Bloemfontein. You will be responsible for optimizing the movement of goods across the region, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and timely transportation solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement optimized transportation plans for regional shipments, considering capacity, transit times, and costs.
• Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to plan, execute, and track shipments effectively.
• Analyze freight costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Coordinate with carriers and internal operations teams to ensure smooth execution of transportation plans.
• Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any delays or disruptions.
• Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations, including driver hours of service and load weight restrictions.
• Prepare reports on transportation performance, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to meet client delivery expectations.
• Evaluate carrier performance and provide recommendations for carrier selection and negotiation.
• Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in transportation and logistics management.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in transportation planning, logistics coordination, or a related role.
• Proven experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and route optimization software.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex transportation data.
• Excellent understanding of freight operations, carrier management, and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
