Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all aspects of the company's transport operations in Upington, Northern Cape, supporting the mining sector.
• Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive transport policies and procedures, prioritizing safety and compliance.
• Manage a diverse fleet of vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks, light vehicles, and specialized mining support equipment.
• Ensure all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards and comply with relevant mining and road safety regulations.
• Plan and optimize transport schedules and routes for efficiency and timely service delivery.
• Supervise, train, and mentor a team of drivers and transport staff.
• Oversee driver performance, conduct regular safety assessments, and ensure adherence to duty of care requirements.
• Manage fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and other operational expenses to ensure budget adherence.
• Liaise with mine site managers and other stakeholders to coordinate transport requirements and resolve logistical issues.
• Maintain detailed records of all transport activities, including maintenance logs, driver records, and incident reports.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in transport management, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sectors.
• Proven experience managing large fleets and complex logistical operations in challenging environments.
• In-depth knowledge of South African road transport regulations and mining safety standards (e.g., MH&S Act).
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and related technologies.
• Valid South African Driver's License (Code 14 preferred).
• Must possess a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) and potentially a PrDP for dangerous goods.
