About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Long-Haul Mining & Industrial Goods Transporter to join their specialized fleet operating from Upington, Northern Cape . This demanding role involves the transportation of heavy machinery, raw materials, and essential components for the mining and industrial sectors across vast distances within South Africa. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with long-distance driving, heavy-duty vehicles, and an unwavering commitment to safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for ensuring the secure and timely delivery of critical cargo to remote mining sites and industrial facilities. This position requires exceptional endurance, problem-solving abilities, and a professional attitude to navigate the challenges of long-haul transport in varied terrains. Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty trucks and specialized trailers for long-haul transportation of mining equipment, industrial parts, and bulk materials.
• Ensure the safe and secure loading, handling, and unloading of all cargo, adhering to strict weight and dimension regulations.
• Plan and execute efficient and safe routes for long-distance journeys, considering road conditions, weather, and site access requirements.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring all safety features and equipment are functional.
• Adhere strictly to all national traffic laws, mining safety regulations, and company policies governing long-haul and industrial transport.
• Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all journeys, including mileage, fuel consumption, delivery times, and any incidents.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and site personnel regarding arrival times, potential delays, or operational challenges.
• Manage personal time effectively during long trips, ensuring compliance with driving hour regulations.
• Maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of the assigned vehicle and equipment.
• Respond professionally and effectively to any breakdowns, emergencies, or unforeseen circumstances encountered during transit.

Requirements

• Valid South African driver's license with PDP and appropriate heavy-duty vehicle endorsements (Code 14 essential).
• Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in long-haul trucking, specifically with experience in mining or industrial goods transport.
• Demonstrable experience operating heavy-duty trucks (e.g., superlinks, flatbeds, specialized rigs) over long distances.
• In-depth knowledge of load securing, weight distribution, and regulations for transporting oversized or heavy industrial loads.
• Excellent understanding of road networks across South Africa, with specific knowledge of routes into mining and industrial areas relevant to the Northern Cape .
• Exceptional safety consciousness and a strong commitment to following all safety protocols rigorously.
• High level of endurance, self-reliance, and problem-solving skills for remote operations.
• Ability to work independently for extended periods.
• Good communication skills and the ability to liaise professionally with clients and site managers.
• Must be physically fit and capable of performing necessary checks and securing operations.
