About the Role

Our client, a premier ecotourism operator in the beautiful coastal region of Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable Tour Guide and Experience Facilitator. This role involves leading immersive tours, educating visitors about the local flora, fauna, and cultural heritage, and ensuring a safe and memorable experience for all participants. The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for nature, excellent storytelling abilities, and a commitment to sustainable tourism practices. You will be the face of our client's operations, responsible for creating enriching and engaging experiences that highlight the unique attractions of the Richards Bay area and its surroundings. This is a dynamic, outdoor-focused role for someone who loves sharing their knowledge and passion with others.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead guided tours for individuals and groups, providing insightful information about the natural environment, wildlife, and local history.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all tour participants at all times.
• Develop and deliver engaging and informative presentations and commentary during tours.
• Manage tour logistics, including timings, transportation, and activity coordination.
• Respond to visitor inquiries and provide assistance with local information and recommendations.
• Uphold the company's commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible tourism.
• Maintain tour equipment and vehicles in excellent condition.
• Gather visitor feedback to continuously improve tour offerings.
• Promote additional services and experiences offered by the company.
• Assist with marketing efforts by sharing engaging content and testimonials.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a tour guide or in a related customer-facing role, preferably in the tourism or outdoor education sector.
• Excellent knowledge of the natural environment, wildlife, and cultural significance of the Richards Bay region.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record; ability to drive manual transmission vehicles may be required.
• First Aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
• A passion for nature, conservation, and sharing knowledge with others.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• Knowledge of local languages in addition to English is an advantage.
• Must reside in or be able to commute to Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.
