Job summary

Fouche & Co Recruitment in Durban seeks a proactive procurement professional to manage the purchase of fabrics, trims, and other production materials for a clothing/textile environment.

You will liaise with Production and Planning to confirm material requirements and delivery dates, ensure orders are placed on time, monitor lead times, and source alternative suppliers when needed. Meticulous records and confidentiality of supplier pricing are essential.

Qualifications

• Matric is required.
• 1–3 years' buying/procurement experience in clothing/textile preferred.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel essential); ERP/purchasing systems advantageous.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong cross-department liaison abilities.

Responsibilities

• Purchase fabric, trims, accessories, packaging and other production materials per approved requirements.
• Liaise with Production and Planning regarding material requirements and delivery dates.
• Ensure materials are ordered timeously to prevent production delays.
• Monitor supplier lead times and communicate potential delays proactively.
• Source alternative materials or suppliers where required.
• Ensure purchased materials meet required specifications and quality standards.
• Review stock requirements and purchasing needs, working closely with Stores/Warehouse to identify shortages and critical stock items.
• Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels and avoid unnecessary overstocking or obsolete stock.
• Assist with stock investigations where purchasing discrepancies arise.
• Process purchase requisitions and purchase orders accurately.
• Maintain complete purchasing records, including supplier quotations and supporting documentation.
• Match purchase orders with supplier invoices and delivery documentation.
• Capture and maintain accurate pricing information.
• Provide purchasing reports to management as required.
• Maintain confidentiality of supplier pricing and commercial information.
