Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Telecom Infrastructure Technician to support operations around Vereeniging and the Gauteng region. This role blends remote management with essential on-site work to ensure reliable network systems.

You will install and maintain cabling, servers, and network devices, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, monitor performance, and document configurations. A national diploma and 2–3 years' experience are preferred, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, IT, or Telecommunications.
• 2-3 years of experience in telecom infrastructure support or a related technical field.
• Familiarity with structured cabling, fiber optics, and various network hardware.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting common network and system issues.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, with occasional travel required.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications hardware, including cabling, servers, and network devices.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on infrastructure components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to network connectivity and service delivery.
• Monitor system performance and capacity, implementing upgrades as needed.
• Respond to service requests and provide technical support to users and field teams.
• Document network infrastructure, configurations, and maintenance activities accurately.
