Placements24 is seeking a Telecommunications Field Service Engineer to install, maintain and repair telecom gear in the Paarl/Paarl region of the Western Cape, with frequent travel to client sites across the region.

The role requires a technical diploma, 4+ years field experience, strong diagnostic and customer-facing skills, and proficiency with test equipment. On-site client work and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics, or related field.
• 4+ years in field service or technical support.
• Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, Ethernet).
• Ability to read schematics and manuals.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission telecom equipment including routers, switches, antennas and cabling.
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostic checks on network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues affecting services.
• Respond to service calls and emergency repairs in a timely manner.
• Conduct site surveys and assess installation requirements.
• Ensure installations meet company standards and best practices.
• Maintain accurate service records and site reports.
• Provide technical guidance to end-users and clients.
• Adhere to safety policies and collaborate with the central engineering team.
