Placements24 in Paarl, Western Cape, is seeking a Telecommunications Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, and repair telecom equipment at client sites. The role involves travel within the region and hands-on diagnostics, with a focus on service delivery and customer satisfaction.

You will configure routers, switches, antennas, and cabling, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot hardware/software, and provide technical guidance.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or certification in Telecommunications, Electronics, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in telecommunications field service or similar technical support role.
• Strong diagnostic skills and customer-centric approach.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, Ethernet) and telecom hardware.
• Ability to read manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission telecommunications equipment at client sites.
• Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostic checks on network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
• Respond to service calls and emergency repair requests promptly.
• Conduct site surveys and assessment of installation requirements.
• Ensure installations meet company standards and best practices.
• Maintain records of service activities and inventory.
