Job summary

placements24 is seeking a Telecoms Field Engineer to install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot advanced telecoms systems at customer premises in Klerksdorp. You will be on-site, delivering expert technical support with a focus on quality workmanship and safety.

Responsibilities include testing equipment, diagnosing faults, performing preventive maintenance and training customers. A minimum of 3 years in field service and a valid driver’s license are required; a company vehicle is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of field service/telecoms experience.
• Experience with fibre optic and copper cabling technologies.
• Familiar with OTDR and spectrum analyzers.
• Able to read network diagrams and technical specs.
• Valid driver’s license and safety-focused.

Responsibilities

• Install, activate, test telecom equipment at customer sites.
• Diagnose and repair faults in voice/data/video networks.
• Perform preventative maintenance on network infrastructure.
• Manage inventory of equipment and parts.
• Provide technical training to customers.
• Document service calls and findings in the field system.
