Role Purpose
Ensure the end-to-end quality of the MWL Platform, with a specific focus on MWL application testing including Gemstone and Visualworks, through comprehensive functional, integration, regression, data and non-functional testing. The role supports reliable, scalable and stable platform capability for advisers, operations teams and client-facing investment services.
Scope of Role (MWL Platform Focus)
The role covers technical and functional testing across the MWL Platform, including:
- Gemstone platform functionality, journeys, business rules and integrations
- Visualworks functionality, forms, workflow behaviour and downstream processing
- MWL platform tools, operational processes and cross-system integrations
- APIs, batch processes, databases and backend services supporting Gemstone, Visualworks and related platform capabilities
Testing Includes
- Functional, regression, system integration and end-to-end testing
- Validation of platform rules, investment transactions, adviser and operations workflows, and exception handling
- Data accuracy, data movement, reconciliation and calculation validation across legacy and integrated systems
- Performance, stability, compatibility, security and reliability considerations for platform changes
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline preferred.
- Testing certification such as ISTQB or ISEB preferred.
- 8–10+ years’ testing experience, including strong technical testing, integration testing, data validation and regression testing experience.
- Experience testing financial services, investment administration, wealth management or platform-based solutions strongly preferred.
- Exposure to Gemstone, Visualworks or comparable legacy/platform technologies within an integrated financial services environment advantageous.

Technical Skills
- Platform Testing: Strong experience testing enterprise platforms, legacy systems, workflow solutions and integrated financial services applications.
- Gemstone and Visualworks: Practical exposure to testing platform functionality, workflows, forms, business rules, operational processes, integrations and regression impact areas.
- Automation Frameworks: API automation using Karate or Postman; UI automation using Playwright
- Databases: SQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL or equivalent database skills for data validation, reconciliation and defect analysis.
- Integration Testing: Advanced understanding of APIs, batch processing, file-based integrations, downstream dependencies and cross-system data flows.
- Agile Delivery: Experience working in Agile squads, sprint cycles, PI planning and delivery governance processes.
- Experience testing investment platform capabilities, including adviser and operations workflows, client and product data, transactions, exceptions, calculations, reporting outputs and downstream processing.
- Experience with performance testing tools, CI/CD pipelines, automated regression suites, defect management tools and test management platforms.
- Ability to analyse technical designs, requirements, logs, database outputs and integration behaviour to support root cause analysis and defect resolution.

Duties and Responsibilities
Test Delivery & Quality Assurance
- Perform end-to-end manual and automated testing across the MWL Platform, with specific focus on Gemstone and Visualworks.
- Execute testing across platform functionality, integrations, data flows, batch processes, calculations, reliability, stability, compatibility and regression impact areas.
- Conduct gap analysis between requirements and existing solutions.
- Ensure user stories are testable, with clear acceptance criteria.
- Define and enforce quality standards in PI planning and sprint cycles.
- Develop and maintain:
- Test plans

Automation & Engineering
- Build and maintain automation frameworks and reusable test assets.
- Execute and maintain automated regression suites
- Implement API and UI automation testing aligned to engineering standards.
- Validate integration points across legacy and external systems.
- Build technical understanding of Gemstone and Visualworks components to design effective test coverage across front-end behaviour, backend processing, interfaces and operational handoffs.
Data, Integration & Calculation Validation
- Validate investment, client, policy, product and transactional data across Gemstone, Visualworks and downstream systems.
- Perform data integrity, reconciliation and calculation testing, including validation of business rules, financial values, workflow outputs and exception scenarios.
- Use SQL and database tools to validate backend data accuracy, investigate defects and confirm data movement across integrations.
