Job summary

Headhunters is seeking a technically strong, customer-focused professional with 5–10 years’ experience in automotive or telematics. You will diagnose and resolve issues in commercial vehicle electronic control systems, provide on-site support, and oversee the installation and commissioning of telematics equipment.

The role requires strong English communication, the ability to work independently or in a team, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.

Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12 required.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Automotive Engineering, Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Automation or a related technical field.
  • 5–10 years' relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience within the automotive or telematics industry.
  • Strong understanding of automotive electronic and electrical systems.
  • Practical knowledge of vehicle CAN protocols.
  • Hands-on experience capturing and analysing CAN messages.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues relating to commercial vehicle electronic control systems.
  • Experience with telematics units (T-BOX), dash cameras, vehicle tracking systems, or other automotive electronics will be advantageous.
  • Previous after-sales technical support experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with customers and resolving technical issues in a structured manner.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and highly responsible.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong coordination and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Code 8 driver's licence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for telematics products in the market.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software-related issues.
  • Provide after-sales technical support to customers.
  • Attend to technical issues on-site and in the field where required.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of telematics equipment.
  • Develop technical solutions and standardised SOP workflows.
  • Investigate technical issues and provide structured root-cause analysis.
  • Collect technical data and analyse findings to identify recurring problems.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations to relevant internal departments.
  • Provide feedback to Research & Development and other stakeholders to support product improvements.
  • Conduct customer follow-ups and gather feedback regarding product performance and usability.
  • Identify common customer pain points and high-value technical requirements.
  • Monitor product performance following deployment.
  • Track and coordinate the resolution of operational and technical issues.
  • Assist with after-sales operations and process optimisation.
  • Support the standardisation of technical and after-sales processes.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure a high level of customer service.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Complete technical reports and maintain accurate records where required.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by management.
