Job summary

Planetric (Durban) is expanding and seeks a Technical Sales Consultant to drive sales of electrical, industrial components, engineering products, PPE and turnkey solutions. You will source products, identify customer requirements, build supplier networks and convert opportunities into sales.

The role combines sales, business development, product sourcing and supplier relationship management to grow our customer base and margins in a dynamic market.

Qualifications

• Proven B2B sales experience.
• Experience in electrical, industrial, engineering, or related sectors.
• Strong supplier and customer relationship skills.
• Experience sourcing products/components.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Good understanding of the sales process.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Own reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities.
• Actively prospect for new customers.
• Conduct cold calling and customer visits.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Promote Planetric's electrical and industrial product range.
• Prepare quotations and follow up on opportunities.
• Negotiate pricing and close sales.
• Achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
• Grow existing customer accounts.
• Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline.
• Source electrical, industrial and engineering components based on customer requirements.
• Identify alternative products, brands and suppliers.
• Obtain competitive pricing and lead times from suppliers.
• Research and identify new local and international suppliers.
• Compare specifications, pricing, availability and delivery timelines.
• Assist customers in finding difficult-to-source or specialised components.
• Develop a strong database of reliable suppliers and manufacturers.
• Stay informed about new products and alternative component solutions.
• Build and maintain excellent relationships with suppliers.
• Develop a reliable network of electrical and industrial component suppliers.
• Negotiate competitive pricing and favourable terms.
• Establish relationships with manufacturers, distributors and importers.
• Obtain priority pricing and availability where possible.
• Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding specifications and lead times.
• Identify new suppliers and alternative sources.
• Maintain professional long-term supplier relationships.
