Job summary

Watershed Consulting is seeking a Technical Product Performance Manager to lead the lifecycle, testing, and field performance of integrated hardware, software, and firmware products from Roodepoort, Gauteng. You will oversee a support team, partner with engineering, and ensure operational excellence across 110k+ field devices.

The role requires 7–10 years in technical product support or development, with hands-on expertise in diagnostics, networking, SQL, and Windows Server.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree or Diploma in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, IT, or a related field.
• Experience: 7–10 years in technical product support, QA, or product development with team leadership.
• Tech Stack: Hardware/firmware diagnostics, networking, SQL databases, Windows Server administration.

Responsibilities

• Lead Technical Operations: manage and schedule the Technical Support team, handle escalations and incident responses.
• Client & Sales Support: act as tier-3 technical expert for enterprise clients, assist sales with design and presentations.
• Documentation & Training: create technical manuals, train teams, onboard clients on new capabilities.
• Oversee Product Testing & Releases: drive QA, UAT, PoCs, field trials to ensure bug-free releases.
• Large-Scale Rollouts: direct firmware, software and hardware updates across 110k+ devices.
• Governance & Supplier Management: lead CAB meetings, root-cause analyses, manage external suppliers.

Technical Product Performance Manager

Remuneration: R50,000 Basic PM + Medical Aid + Provident Fund + 13th Cheque + Performance Bonus

Role Summary

Technical Product Performance Manager to lead the lifecycle, testing, and field performance of integrated hardware, software, and firmware products. To oversee a support team, partner with engineering teams, and ensure operational excellence across a footprint of over 110,000 active field devices.

Duties

• Lead Technical Operations: Manage, mentor, and schedule the Technical Support team, handling escalations, standby rotations, and critical incident responses.
• Client & Sales Support: Serve as the tier-3 technical expert for enterprise clients, assisting sales with solution design and technical presentations.
• Documentation & Training: Create technical manuals, train internal teams, and onboard clients on new product capabilities.
• Oversee Product Testing & Releases: Drive QA, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Proofs of Concept (PoCs), and field trials to ensure new releases are bug-free.
• Large-Scale Rollouts: Direct firmware, software, and hardware updates across 110k+ devices in the field, ensuring configuration compliance.
• Governance & Supplier Management: Lead Change Control Board (CAB) meetings, conduct root-cause analyses, and hold external engineering suppliers to account.

Requirements

• Education: Degree or Diploma in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, IT, or a related field.
• Experience: 7–10 years in technical product support, QA, or product development—with proven experience managing teams.
• Tech Stack: Working knowledge of hardware/firmware diagnostics, networking, SQL databases, and Windows Server administration.
• Core Competencies: Deep experience with root-cause analysis, change management (CAB), product lifecycle management, and enterprise client engagement.
